How do the presentations work?
At each meeting, all members who are present and current on their contributions can submit a nomination form with their name and the name of the 501(c)(3) charity they would like to present in the basket for the chance to make a five minute presentation. If two or three of the selected members are presenting the same charity, those members can decide which of them will do the presentation and other names will be drawn until three different charities can be presented at the meeting. It is important that members follow our chapter guidelines when submitting the names of eligible 501(c)3) charities.
Presentations should not exceed five minutes in length. They should be simple and not overly formal. All 501(c)(3) charities presented must be local and serving the greater DeKalb/Sycamore area. Members are encouraged to give the presentation themselves but they are allowed to invite the executive director, director, or a staff member of the charity to make the five minute presentation on their behalf.

How does the vote work?
All members present at the meeting who are current on their contributions can vote. Ballots are collected and tallied at the meeting, and the charity with the most votes is awarded the full group donation. All members write a check for $100 to the winning charity. As a committed member, we ask that you support the charity that wins, even if you personally voted for another charity.
What if the vote results in a tie?
If there is a tie between two charities, another vote will be taken between the two charities. If it results in another tie, the names of both charities will be put in a hat and the winner will be randomly selected. In the case of a three-way tie, the names of all three charities will be put in a hat, and the winner will be randomly selected.
